On June 24, 2016 at the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, H.E. Sun Chanthol met with Mr. Tang Zhen, Representative to Cambodia of the China Railway 16th Bureau Group.
Mr. Tang presented the pre feasibility study of new railway track from the existing southern line to Phnom Penh Autonomous Port.
The Senior Minister expressed his appreciation for the company’s information and suggested that they collect more data and do more research to determine whether this project is financially and economically viable.
Project to build a rail line that links Phnom Penh Autonomous Port is under study by China Railway China Railway 16th Bureau Group. According to Chan Somleng, spokesman for the Ministry of Public Works and Transport Affairs rail. He said that the new railway could be connected from the railway station in paragraph Phnom Penh, Phnom Penh port along Road 1 through central province (South Hall).
The new railway project study conducted in order to avoid traffic congestion and improve transportation by land, which will help more stimulus. The transport ministry spokesman could not confirm how long this railway construction started by the company is studying the project.
