Cambodia Considers Establishing Chamber of Commerce Abroad

In the morning of September 29, 2016, the Ministry of Commerce hosted “The meeting to study the feasibility to establish the oversea honorary chambers of commerce”, under the patronage of H.E. PAN Sorasak, Minister of Commerce. It was attended by many senior government officials and high-profile business people.

Speaking at the meeting, His Excellency Minister said that, “The presence of the oversea chambers of commerce will contribute national economy and help promote the trade sector because the new institutions are tasked to boost and diversify Cambodian product exports and to coordinate investment projects.”

“The Ministry of Commerce will amend some articles with internal rules and regulations for the law on the Establishment of Cambodia’s Chamber of Commerce in order to expand its working scopes and empower the new institutions to recruit their management and members and to ensure the effective operation,” H.E.Sorasak added.

The meeting also enthusiastically discussed the obligations and responsibilities of the oversea chambers of commerce as well as some procedures to modify all concerning legislation to accelerate the process of creating new institutions in other countries around the world.
